vBulletin - Hide certain sub-forums from the app

Tapatalk plugin for vBulletin supports sub-forums filtering where you can hide specific forums from displaying in the Tapatalk app. This is ideal if you want to hide certain high traffic forum such as RSS feed or certain customized sub-forums that don't work well with Tapatalk.

Here is the instruction:

1) Find out the forum id that to be hidden. Login to your forum admincp screen, go to "Forum & Moderators" -> "Forum Manager". Click on "Edit" on specific forum, the forum id will appear on the top of the screen:



2) Edit the /mobiquo/conf/config.txt file inside your forum system. You can download it from FTP to edit it using your favorite text editor - or you can do it on SSH/Telnet if you know how to do it.



Find the "hide_forum_id" field in the config.txt file, enter the forum id that you found on step 1 above to here. Note that you can hide more than one forum here, just put a "," seperator e.g. "2,5,7" it will hide all three forums specificly. Saved your change and FTP the file back to the server. IMPORTANT!!! you need to specify the exact sub-forum at leaf-level (i.e. not category) for this to work. Otherwise the result returned from Latest tab will include topics in these sub-forums.

3) Verify the result by viewing the forum list on Tapatalk app. Try the tap on the "Refresh" button to make sure it pull the forum list again from the server:

I have filed a bug for this issue in vbulletin 4.0.

For SMF and IPBoard this feature is currently not supported unfortunately.

This has added to our bug fixes list and will be fixed ASAP.

It should work in vb3x even though this thread is old. The only known issue so far is you need to manually put all the child forums (leaf forums) id in the config.txt - If you simply specify the parent ID it won't work in Latest tab topic filtering.

If you are running vb4 it should be fixed in latest Tapatalk plugin version 1.7.

I believe so - I will wait for Yao to confirm but it's always good idea to keep up-to-date.
