I'm not sure how this needs to be handled, but when viewing a post that is very long, you start @ the beginning. You then are only limited to viewing the next 20 posts at a time. If it's a LOONG post, it takes many many clicks, to get to the end. Would it be possible for it to parse pages as well, or maybe a longer jump than just 20 @ a time?
Hi, You can use the "Show Newest Post" button in inside the upper right "springboard" button to display the latest 10 posts! Is it not obvious enough? Do you have any suggestion to make it better?
I agree this should be improved. When replying to a long thread (say 150 replies or more), it takes a long time to keep clicking next 20 posts. Then when you eventually get to the end and submit a reply, the app appears to default to the thread view, showing 'next 20 posts' again. So I click next 20 like crazy to get to the end to watch this specific thread for new replies. I'll admit, whilst doing the above process to reply to a post last week, eventually I closed the app, posted via safari, then opened the tapatalk app again. Maybe a goto last post button, instead of next 20... or navigate to page #?? Im not sure, but I suspect this will turn out to be quite a frustrating feature of the app. I'll have another think of what could be implemented to improve this.
Hi, Maybe i wasn't clear.. hm.. Here is the screenshot to explain.. 1) When the thread first loaded - it display the oldest 10 posts: 2) You tap on the upper right spring-board button, the follow screen appear: 3) You tap on the "Show Newest Posts" 4) It will load the latest 10 posts from the server 5) After it finished loading, the last post will appear on the screen, no scrolling is needed.
Okay - I think I see two issues here that can be improved: 1) When a reply is posted, it should automatically jump the the newest post (which is your reply) 2) Ability to easily navigate to middle of the thread - maybe some sort of pagination? The first one can be done quickly and will be done in next app release. Now we need to think about how we can achieve this with such as small screen..
I have 2 ideas on this sins the "Show 20 new posts" can be slow to use in big treads. 1. Add a "Go to last post" icon between Subscribed and my info. 2. Remove the "Show 20 more posts" and make it work as the Iphone desktop. If you want the 20 next post you "slide" to the left. You can slide very fast to were you want to be and when you stop it starts loading the posts (60-80 for example). Then you can very easy navigate to were you want to read. Or Make the "Posts (20 of 85) clickable and show a drop down with 1-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50.......
I didn't realize show newest post was there...that will help out some. However, like others have previously stated, if you need to go to the middle of a post, you are sitting there tapping next 20 posts for several minutes to get where you need to go.
Yes, I agree... a form of pagination (much alike VB's own setup) would be very useful. The slide to jump idea is quite neat too, if simple to achieve. If its complex, a simple numerical hop will be functionally sound. The "load 10 more posts" in the latest update is a step in the wrong direction Winter - sorry, I didnt see the load new posts in the top button, as Id not updated to the latest app, I guess. Things are moving forwards nicely.
I think the best solution is to take readers directly to the latest unread post, which is information vB holds at any time if you're using the database to store it, which I believe the majority is. I see this feature is not enabled in this forum, so maybe that's something to look at.
Ok I see the 20 new post issue has already been addressed I think having pages would help alot ..or at least being able to go backwards in the thread. Also I'm not sure if it's a glitch or what but I noticed I don't have the option to go to the 20 new post when I'm in a thread I created Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great to see this is addressed - we are in full stream to get the pagination working and making sense on iPhone - stay tuned!!
